Sleep plays a key role in the way that people think, feel, and behave. For approximately 20% of the population, poor sleep regularly impacts upon their physical and mental wellbeing. For those suffering the effects of inadequate sleep, smartphone-based sleep improvement applications (apps) may provide an opportunity to access readily available sleep interventions. However, there is a distinct lack of evidence-based research examining the efficacy of sleep-related apps.
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of three popular smartphone-based sleep improvement intervention apps on measures of sleep quality and mood.
What does the Study involve?
This study involves three steps:
- Firstly, we invite you to complete an initial survey, which will take no longer than 15 minutes.
- Upon completion of the survey you will be invited to download a sleep app. We ask that you use the app for a period of 14 consecutive days/nights.
- Finally, following 14 days of using the app, you will receive an email containing a final survey, which will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
We are seeking participants who:
- Are aged over 18 years old
- Have access to an IOS or Android smartphone device, mobile phone or tablet, capable of operating application software.
