Researching Effective Sleep Treatments (REST)

Insomnia is very common and is associated with significant personal and economic impairment. This study aims to improve behavioural treatments for insomnia.

We are seeking adults who experience insomnia and their partners to take part in this study. Participants and their partners will complete a series of questionnaires and interviews, have their sleep-wake patterns monitored by a wrist-worn device, and have one overnight sleep study at our facility in Notting Hill, Victoria.

Participants will undertake 7 weekly x 1 hour insomnia treatment sessions led by trained psychologists at the Monash Healthy Sleep Clinic in Notting Hill at no cost. Participants will be reimbursed for their time. 

Participants must:

  • Be over 18
  • Be fluent in English
  • Have a stable bed partner

Participants must:

  • Not do shift-work 
  • Not have untreated sleep disorders other than insomnia (e.g., sleep apnoea) 
  • Not have Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia 
  • Not have a Substance Abuse Disorder
