A/Prof Aliza Werner-Seidler
A/Prof. Werner-Seidler is an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow and Clinical Psychologist.
Her research interests include the prevention and treatment of depression and anxiety with a focus on adolescents and young adults, the cognitive mechanisms that underlie common mental disorders, the use of digital approaches to improve the reach and uptake of psychological interventions, and the role of poor sleep in mental illness. She also leads a program of research which investigates ways to facilitate the implementation of evidence based mental health programs within the school system.
A/Prof. Werner-Seidler is currently co-leading the Future Proofing Study – the largest digital depression prevention trial looking at how mental health apps can be used by school students to prevent the onset of mental illness. She completed her PhD at UNSW in 2012 and post-doctoral training at Cambridge University until 2014. She then commenced her role at the Black Dog Institute.
Dr Moira Junge
Moira commenced her role as the CEO of the Sleep Health Foundation at the beginning of 2022. She is a registered Health Psychologist and holds a Doctorate in Health Psychology. Health Psychology focuses on understanding health at an individual and population level so it was a natural transition for Moira to work across the clinical setting as well as the public health and health promotion setting.
Moira was a founding member of the Behavioural Management of Sleep Disorders Committee within the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) and was the Chair of the ASA Insomnia and Sleep Health Council (2008-2015). She was on the board of the Sleep Health Foundation from 2016-2022 before becoming its inaugural CEO. She is passionate about promoting the importance of good sleep health, providing the community with access to evidence-based solutions for sleeping difficulties, and about translating research into practical applications in our community.
