As 2025 draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been part of the Sleep Health Foundation community this year – our members, our board, partners, supporters, volunteers and the many individuals and organisations who have championed better sleep health across Australia. A particular huge thanks to our Administration and Communications Coordinator Liv Patterson who facilitates and coordinates all this activity.
This year has seen tremendous growth in our collective efforts to raise awareness of the importance of sleep. Through new educational resources, national campaigns, research collaborations, and inspiring community events, we’ve continued to highlight how quality sleep supports mental health, physical wellbeing, and productivity at every stage of life.
A special mention goes to our Lived Experience Advisory Partners (LEAP), whose voices continue to shape our work in powerful ways throughout 2025. Their insights, honesty, and dedication have strengthened our understanding of the real-world impacts of sleep disorders and poor sleep health. By incorporating their experiences into our programs, advocacy, and educational materials, we’re aiming to ensure that our messages truly reflect the needs and realities of the community we serve.
I’m also proud of the way our network has continued to expand its reach – from schools and workplaces to healthcare professionals and policymakers – ensuring that sleep health remains a central part of Australia’s preventative health conversation. None of this would be possible without your ongoing enthusiasm, expertise, and collaboration.
As we look ahead to 2026, we’re excited to build on this momentum. Together, we’ll continue advocating for evidence-based approaches, supporting those affected by sleep disorders, and fostering a culture that truly values sleep as a pillar of good health. Legislation changes in workplace health and safety that now recognise the importance of sleep, fatigue and rest will help drive further change and we’re well on the road to being able to support workplaces further with sleep health solutions and advice.
We extend our deepest compassion to all those affected by the tragic events at Bondi Beach this week: to families grieving loved ones, those recovering from injuries, bystanders and local residents, as well as the courageous first responders and dedicated healthcare workers. Our thoughts are with the entire Australian community who have been shaken by this horrific and senseless attack, and we especially wrap our arms around the Jewish community during this difficult time. We send our love to our many Jewish members, volunteers and supporters.
On behalf of the Sleep Health Foundation Board and team, thank you for being part of this vital mission. Wishing you a restful and rejuvenating holiday season, and a bright, healthy start to the year ahead.

Warm regards,
Moira.
