The Sleep Health Foundation is seeking a new board member with marketing, PR and/or social media experience and not-for-profit experience. Skills and experience include but are not limited to:

  • Campaign management experience
  • Working with not-for-profits and knowledge of industry regulations;
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Previous experience as a board member
  • Some level of governance training and certification would be highly valued.

About the Sleep Health Foundation

The Sleep Health Foundation is a not-for-profit health promotion charity that aims to raise awareness of the importance of sleep, and to provide the community with evidence-based resources for sleeping difficulties. The Foundation is currently seeking new non-executive board members. The non-executive board member(s) is a critical leadership role responsible for providing strategic guidance, governance oversight, and policy development for the Sleep Health Foundation.

About the role

Non-executive members are expected to actively contribute to the organisation's mission and strategic direction, ensuring ethical conduct, financial stewardship, to aid in the delivery of high-quality information, programs and resources for improving sleep across the nation.

The role requires a commitment to fulfilling the organisation's duties, ethical conduct and a dedication to putting the organisation's interests before personal interests. To ensure transparency and accountability in the achievement of this purpose, the governing body embodies and promotes better practice governance through its conduct and throughout the operations of the Sleep Health Foundation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Attendance at 5 x 2-hour board meetings annually via Zoom (10 hours plus any required preparation time, approx. 30 mins per preparation per meeting)
  • Attendance at the Annual General Meeting (2 hours)
  • Ad-hoc communications, in particular those relating to marketing (approx. 4 hours annually)
  • Participation on other committees is expected (e.g. Marketing and Communications, Finance and Risk etc, approximately 2 hours per month)
  • 2-year term with opportunity for re-nomination (maximum of 6-years as a non-executive director of the board)
