We all sleep — but many Australians don’t sleep well. Chronic sleep problems are common, often under-treated, and significantly impacts physical, mental, and cognitive health.

The Better Sleep Program, delivered by experienced psychologists at Reconnexion, provides an accessible, evidence-based intervention for adults experiencing insomnia (e.g., difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep). Poor sleep is associated with impaired mood, reduced immunity, increased risks of mental and physical health disorders, traffic accidents, and workplace accidents. Early, targeted intervention can prevent escalation, reduce comorbidities, and improve daily functioning and quality of life.

Evaluated by Deakin University researchers, the Better Sleep Program:

  • Significantly reduced insomnia symptoms, even in patients with long-term chronic insomnia.
  • Provides practical, sustainable sleep strategies within a brief intervention model.

The structured model involves just 3 individual sessions with a qualified psychologist experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the ‘gold-standard’ treatment of insomnia, equipping clients with lifelong skills to improve sleep quality and overall wellbeing.

This is a limited 6-month trial program, commencing October 2025. Sessions are offered at a reduced out-of-pocket fee of $100 per session. No formal referral needed (e.g., MHCP) as there is no Medicare rebate available for this trial. Health professionals are encouraged to refer suitable patients who would benefit from early, evidence-based support in managing sleep difficulties.
